Another gig, closer to home (kind of)

Hey folks,

Last Friday’s gig at Woodstock turned out great. It was the biggest crowd we’ve played to down there. I had spent lunchtime in Allans music shop writing a couple of charts and we finally got our heads around Rocket Science and a new song, Yellow and Green. At our previous gig I tried putting some lyrics I had lying around to one of Kym’s new tunes and that has turned out great (it’s now called Blood Test).

This Friday, we are playing as JazzPaperScissors (that’s Fergus Maximus in Lounge Mode). It’s at Lirra Lirra Cafe & Bar at Waite Institute (Gate 3, Waite Road in Urrbrae). It’s a very early gig: 5 to 8 pm. No cover charge and no strings attached (but not much in the way of things to eat). We’ll be doing mostly jazz tunes with a couple of originals that suit the mood (including the afore-mentioned new one, Blood Test).

We’d love to see you there!

Abducted by aliens

Um, yes, that’s definitely what happened. We’ve been abducted by aliens. No uncomfortable probing, thankfully. Pretty tedious, really. We just sat around in the space ship filling out all these surveys for alien post-grad students (some of the misconceptions they have about human beings boggle the mind; I suspect there’s some songs to be found in all that).

Anyway, we have arrived safely back on planet Earth just in time for our next gig tomorrow night at Woodstock Winery’s wood-oven pizza night. It’s the usual deal: no entry charge but a set menu which is $35/head for a three course meal (entree, all the gourmet pizza you want and then dessert); drinks are extra. Doors open at 6pm. We are on from 7-10 pm.

It will be a great night and we hope to see you all down there. Well, those of you living in the vicinity anyway. People on other continents have a leave pass.

Catch you soon,

PS A couple of the alien post-grads reckon they might pop in to check us out but we’ll believe it when we see it.
